Core Language Enhancement Programme
GESS is proud of our languages being a major part of the school’s DNA, with over 70 being spoken in our community. Our students stay connected to their cultural roots and become ready for future possibilities as multilingual global citizens, by achieving proficiency in multiple languages.
Further to AY2023/2024’s introduction of an integrated Dutch Mother Tongue Programme in Primary School, European Section, we are now preparing for more initiatives that will be rolled out within the next couple of years. For example, a schoolwide approach to European Languages will support families in deciding language classes at mother tongue and acquisition level. In addition, an after-school language programme for students will be launched. The number of DSD I and DSD II exams will be increased, raising the opportunities for students to have their German language skills certified.
We believe these will provide even more flexibility and choices for parents and students, taking into consideration the needs and preferences of our school community.
